What a day!

Our daughter got her leg broken in an indoor soccer game last night. She had surgery this morning to insert a metal rod into the Tibia.

She has 4 children ranging in age from 10 down to 1. And guess who is the designated Baby-sitter! Yep, yours truly! Oh well, it's not too bad. The older girls are helping quite a bit.

Garden got Frozen

The low temp was supposed to be 33* - and hubby said "don't worry, the garden will be fine". Well, just goes to show you how wrong he was. No more green beans, no more squash (which isn't all bad) no more peppers :o(

Guess we will have to pull up all the plants this weekend and let the ground rest. We still have potatos, carrots and onions we an leave in for a while longer.

Making "Life Path" pendants today to send to Gallery 873. So I guess I had best get to work.

Where did it go????

I don't know about you, but we went from Summer to Winter in less than 24 hours!!!
Holy Cow - from 85* to 48*. And to think that I moved to Utah voluntarily! Of course, that was about 30 odd years ago when I was young and stupid.

My muse has taken the summer off - so I really didn't do much creating this year. I have been making soldered window pane frames with pressed flowers and personalized pictures in them. They are fun and really easy - even my 10 y/o grand daughter can do them. And she loves doing them for her friends.

OK, I promise to keep this blog going on a more even keel. I will post more often and show more pictures.

Is it summer yet?????

If you live in Utah, the answer is a definite NO!!! But it should be here by the end of the week. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

I have been busy making soft solder charms. They are a diversion from regular soldering, but definitely a "No Brainer". They are quite popular here right now, so I will make what sells.

Looking forward.....

OK, Easter's gone until next year!

Now we need to get ready for Mother's Day! It's always good to have a selection of jewelry, i.e. necklaces, rings, bracelets, with Birth Stones available. This is a great time to encourage Custom Orders.

WOW!!! What a weekend!

My trip to St. George was GREAT!!!! What can I say??? Both galleries are selling my work at a steady pace and have asked for more pieces. I love it when they give me specifics and I can do the work they want. Of course, they like it when I send down new designs also. So, right now, life is good.

Now, if summer would just hurry up and get here!

Made myself a Valentine

Sometimes we get so caught up in making jewelry for sale, that we forget ourselves. So, for Valentine's Day, I made myself a pendant.

It is Sterling Silver, Pink Chalcedony, Garnet, and Swarovski crystal.

Need a quick pick-me-up for some dull silver???

If you are about to run out the door, and your silver jewelry looks a little dull, give it a couple of rubs with some tooth paste. Yep, I use Colgate Total (just cuz that's what's in the cupboard). Put a pearl size drop on index finger and thumb and give your silver a quick treatment. Rinse well, wipe with a soft towel and you are out the door!!!

Finally!

I got my last package shipped this morning. There were several pair of earrings, pendants and a great handmade chain and earring set. The chain is made from twisted copper and sterling silver wires, soldered and connected with sterling silver jump rings. I shipped it out without even getting a picture ;o( Sometimes I get a little ahead of myself.

I also got all my bookkeeping taken care of today. So now I have some time to play with patinas on copper. I love it when I have "Play Time".

Getting Ready ~ Big Weekend

OK, as you know from reading this blog, I am in an all metal gallery in Ivans, Utah. Well, the weekend of Feb. 14 & 15 is their 10th Annual Art Fair. Hubby and I are planning to go down and do a "Meet and Greet". This should be fun. I am packaging up some new pieces as well as some "regulars" to send down for sale. So now you get a "sneak peek".

.
The top pic is handmade chain and earrings sold separately or as a set. The heart pendant is hammered and has coiled copper accent on a leather necklace, the earrings are hammered copper washers, the heart pin on the left of the picture was inspired from and article/tutorial in Art Jewelry/Lapidary Journal this month and the other heart pin is my own idea.
As always, comments are appreciated.
Hope you are all having mild weather and being super creative.

Ya gotta love the guy!

Since we have had so much snow in the last few weeks, I can not get outside to get into my lapidary/smithing shop. In this shop is my anvil that I use to hammer metals for jewelry. And it is really cold out there cuz you have to wait for the electric heater to warm things up.

So since I have an order from one of my galleries for some hammered copper pendants, hubby went to Harbor Freight today and brought home a 55# anvil! He even made a nice little stand for it to be used in the house. What a guy!!!!

Now I have absolutely NO excuse for not getting my order shipped before Valentine's Day.

New Jewelry for Valentine's Day

OK, time to get back into the saddle and get some pieces posted.

As you see, I have been busy creating heart earrings, stick-pins, and bookmarks from copper and sterling silver.
Any feedback, comments, critiques would be appreciated.
Thx.
