New Necklaces

Hi! Thanks for stopping by!
Here are a couple of the items I made today.

I am really excited about this first piece. I have been wanting to make a large chunk style necklace that would be cost effective for my customers. I think I have finally done it. This necklace is made with beautiful clear quartz crystal, black obsidian faceted stones and lampwork beads and bali silver. It is all on an Italian leather neck piece. If you are wearing a shirt with a collar, it will lay nicely and not be bulky. The necklace is approx 18" and the focal sterling silver piece hangs about 2"

This second piece is again, beautiful clear quartz crystal and rutilated glass with black faceted beads with bali silver. This is a whole necklace of all the components. It is approx 18".

New Arrival

This is our newest grandson. He arrived July 29th weighing 9.03# and was 20.5"
As yet, he doesn't have a name. It seems to take forever for my daughter and her hubby to decide. I am sure, even though it is taking a while, they will come up with the perfect name for this precious little one.

Galleries Revisited

Went down to St. George over the weekend to check on what has and hasn't sold. Wouldn't ya just know it????? The copper pendants are all sold out! So I am now frantically bending copper wire, hammering, heating, hammering, heating - whew! This idea I had of being my own boss is just too much like WORK!!! ;o) And I'm lovin' every minute of it! Even the blisters on my hands aren't a problem! :o)

I will be posting more pictures soon - right now I have 20 pieces of copper in the pickle pot getting cleaned up and ready to hammer the day-lights out of it. So sit tight, have a drink of something cool and I'll have some pictures for your viewing pleasure shortly!

See ya soon!

This Bracelet Rocks! (literally)

This bracelet was inspired by my Daughter-in-Law. She loves jewelry and the bigger, the better!!!

She saw some rocks I had on a string and said she wanted a bracelet made out of them. So I made her one - and when I saw how it turned out, I had to have one too. The difference between the bracelets is I used 4mm Bicone Swarovski crystals on hers and I used 4mm Round Swarovski ABcrystals on mine.

White Lamp work Bracelet

OK, just had to throw in one more picture. This is one bracelet I made for myself.

I had made one for a young lady to wear for her wedding, and decided I liked it and made one for me too.

Is there such a thing as having too much jewelry?????

Bracelet Pictures

These are the pictures of the bracelets for my new client.

She wanted a couple of colors in Lamp work beads..
Then there are Ocean Jasper, Turquoise and some brown "dirt" colored stones.

She already has 5 bracelets out of White, pink, and red Lamp work beads, and a couple of other stone bracelets. I just have one more to make for her and it is out of Amber chips.

Time Out!

Ok, sorry I haven't been here for a while. My sister and BIL came for a visit. They live in Mesa, AZ and travel all summer. I so envy them!!!! After spending approx. 10 days here in Utah, they traveled north to Idaho and are currently sitting in McKammon - near Lava Hot Springs.

So now it is time to get back in harness and get my creative juices flowing. I have been working on several bracelets for a new customer. It is wonderful to have great referrals from great customers. It is like having "Pre-qualified" buyers.

I hope you are all doing well and having a great first few weeks of summer.

Copper Coil Pendant

I was messing around with some 10ga. copper wire and made a pendant like this. It is coiled and hammered and coated with laquer. I also had an order from St. George, UT. for some of these.

"O" Earrings

Good Grief! Has it been 3 weeks already??? OK, took another trip to St. George, UT and one of my galleries there requested these earrings. (I was wearing them at the time) So I came home and made 5 more pair. These can be purchased at the Art Metal Gallery 873 at Coyote Gulch, Ivans, UT

Topaz Mountain

We have a place here in Utah called Topaz Mountain. And, yes, you can get natural topaz. My oldest son and his family went down there a couple of weeks back and found a few nice stones. So, for Mother's day, he had me make a ring for his wife and two daughters from the nicest terminated ends.

These are the rings I made for them. Since the topaz are crystals with straight sides, I had to use epoxy to hold them in place.

If you look closely, you can see some of the brown tint. Many of the crystals we find are clear because they have been out in the sun and have been bleached. The natural color of the crystals in the vugs (the little holes or caves they grow in) is a rootbeer color.

This is one of the nicely terminated clear ends. These rings are a fun keepsake for the gals of their family.

My husband works with a lovely lady named Bobbie and she will be retiring from her job next week. When asked what she wanted for her retirement gift, she immediately said "one of Kim's bracelets." So I sent a bunch of pictures to work with hubby and Bobbie wanted one of these.
She is such a neat lady and has such a love of life - I wish her all the best in the years to come. She and her hubby are building a home in Southern Utah and it is going to be absolutely Gorgeous!!!
I look forward to going down to the St. George area and visiting with them.
Best wishes for a long life, Bobbie!

Hand Made Beads

OK, so I don't blog every day! That is what happens when I work on a computer all day long and then come home and work on a computer all night.

But I just HAD to show off my newest accomplishment.....Hand Made Sterling Silver Beads!!!

For some time now, I have been wanting beads that are bigger than I can purchase at Blake Bros. so I decided I would like to start making my own.

There is a great book available - Making Metal Beads - and it has great step-by-step instructions on making all sorts of metal beads.
The larger disk was sterling silver cut to the size of a quarter, domed, soldered then textured with a stone wheel.
The two smaller disks were sterling silver cut to the size of a penny, hammered for texture and then domed and soldered.
They are not great, but I am quite pleased with them. I have some great coral barrels I am going to combine them with. Look for pictures later.
Hope you are living your dreams - create beauty where ever you can

1st day on the blog...

Hey Everyone!

Well I finally got moved into the 21st century! I guess I am now officially blogging!

As many of you know, I quit my corporate america job last May. Well, now I am working for Direct Point Home - strictly on a temporary basis. This is a company who can access your computer via remote access and fix just about any problem you may have causing your machine to work ineffeciently. They are a great bunch of guys to work for. They have growing pains that many companies would love to have. Getting too big, too fast.

We are having typical spring weather here in Utah. 70 degrees one day and snow the next - not to mention the horrendous winds we've been having! Sheesh!!!

Well, this is enough for the first message. I need to get busy on a bracelet for a very special lady. She is retiring mid May and has requested one of my coiled bracelets as her retirement gift. I was totally delighted to receive her request. I will hopefully get it done tonight and take some pictures to post in the next day or two.

So, until next time -
Dream Big and creat your own Heaven on Earth!
